Why Channel Drains By CT Stormwater Authority?
A channel drain’s primary purpose is to divert surface water away from a targeted region. This helps to avoid flooding, as well as any overflow that may occur. By lowering system stress, these drains control water flow. Professionally installed channel drains by the skilled experts at CT Stormwater Authority are useful for these reasons:
- Flood prevention and control
- Reduce the risk of water damage
- Cleaner, dryer surfaces inside or out
- Customizable, long-lasting, easy to maintain

Why Channel Drain Installation?
Channel drains, also called trench, line, or linear drains, divert excess surface water in straight channels to other points of drainage. They can be interior or exterior, and are often lined between harder material such as tile, concrete, brick, etc. They can be inlayed with gravel or sand.

Customizable, long-lasting, easy to maintain
- Planning and prep: First, we decide where to place your channel drainages it discharge into the main drainage via a pipe union end cap or a bottom outlet portion.
- Excavation: The next stage is to dig a neat trench deep enough to suit the channel drain and reach the surface 2mm below the surrounding flooring, with an extra 100mm below for concrete.
- Silt trap, outlet, end caps: After determining the right length, adding a silt trap and outlet cutout, we install end caps. Drainage channels are installed.
- Concrete layer: We add a 100mm-thick layer of concrete to the bottom of the trench. We use compacted fill instead of concrete if the channel drain is in a pedestrian area.
- Channel drain inserted: The drainage outlet is sealed with the drain pipe before lowering it into the trench. Before adding backfill or concrete around the channel run, we gently crush the channel drain into the trench with a wedge.
